In the United States from Washington DC, The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners in Association with the Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council commissioned in April 2014 an international tender titled “Study – Co-Optimization of Transmission with Other Resources – Demonstration

In the tender, it stated:

The Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council (EISPC) represents the 39 states, the District of Columbia, the City of New Orleans and 8 Canadian Provinces located within the Eastern Interconnection electric transmission grid. This is the first time in the nation’s history that these entities will be working together, supported by a funding opportunity from the United States Department of Energy, to evaluate transmission development options throughout the Eastern Interconnection.

We are proud to say that PLEXOS has been selected for this work. Over the years, PLEXOS has proven to have the most advanced capabilities over and above any other product in the world.

This is a significant achievement because The Eastern Interconnect makes up for 68% of the US market again highlighting the ability of PLEXOS to replicate in great detail any system of any size anywhere in the world.

Energy Exemplar’s Paper on Renewable Generation Integration Promoted Live on Electric Energy Online

For well over a decade,Electric Energy Online has worked to become the leading provider of the latest information, knowledge, and understanding of the electric industry focusing on transmission and distribution that spans the globe. For the month of November, the Electric Energy Online website will promote the published paper by Energy Exemplar’s Regional Director for West Coast, Dr Tao Guo, titled ‘Renewable Generation Integration Study by PLEXOS’. Energy Exemplar performs a few renewable generation integration studies using the 3-stage DA-HA-RT sequential simulation approach to mimic the real world power system operation. The solutions from the sub-hourly RT simulation include the over-generation, un-served energy, and reserve shortfalls. Usually the non-zero values of these indices indicate the system is not ready for the renewable generation or has inadequate ramp capacity. In addition, the 3-stage Da-HA-RT sequential simulation approach can quantify the effectiveness of the system operation procedure evolution, new products and more.
